Locations: Pretoria – Olympus or Lynnwood; Hartbeespoort

If you are after some yummy pastries and breads, then Vovo Telo is the way to your heart. They are also incredibly kind to have some water bowls for pooches and allow you to sit outside in their sunny outdoor area to soak up some sun with your four-legged bestie.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday: 07:00 – 17:00; Sunday & Monday: 07:00 – 15:00

Salvation Cafe

Location: Milpark – 44 Stanley Avenue East

This little and picturesque coffee shop and restaurant is quaint and offers great food packed with flavour. Sit in the shady cover of the beautiful trees tucked away in 44 Stanley and feel as though you are sitting in a gorgeous little coffee shop on the streets of Europe.

Opening hours: Monday: closed; Tuesday to Sunday: 08:00 – 16:00

Walkhaven Dog Park

Location: Zwartkop, Muldersdrift – Plot 77

You may have heard of this beautiful park that is situated on 22 hectares of rolling grassland – it’s pretty much made for you and your precious fur baby to enjoy a day out and a bite to eat while having fun. It is safe and great for you and your precious pooch.

There is a massive dam for your dog to swim in and picnic and braai facilities. There is also a tasty little restaurant if picnicking is not your cup of tea.

Opening hours: Monday to Sunday: 07:00 – 18:30; restaurant: Thursday to Sunday from 08:30 – 16:30

Espresso Caffe & Bistro

Location: Parkhurst – 23A 4th Avenue

This place is oh-so-very delicious!

Well known for their tasty prego rolls, you are welcome to bring your dog and hang out here whilst chomping down on some of their yummy meals. From pizza to cocktails – they have got it all! FYI – bring cash as they don’t take card!

Opening hours: Monday: closed; Tuesday & Wednesday: 09:00 – 21:00; Thursday to Saturday: 09:00 – 22:00; Sunday: 08:00 – 20:00

Nice on 4th

Location: Parkhurst – 37 4th Avenue, Cnr 14th Street

This place has become one of the city’s favourite spots to indulge in some tasty brekkie. They have all sorts of sweet baked treats and breakfasts to choose from. They also offer water bowls for your furry friends.

Delta Cafe

Location: Craighall Park – 76 Marlborough Ave

Delta Park is a gorgeous place to take your dog for a walk or run and you will often see other dog walkers and cyclists passing through as the park connects to the well-known mountain biking route – The Spruit.

When you are feeling a little hungry after a walk in the park, then chow down at this little coffee shop. Their menu has a great range of options, and their prices are budget-friendly. They also have a little water well for your dog to jump into and cool off in.

Location: Blairgowrie – 9 Mackay Avenue

The place is the spot for you if you are looking to munch on some chocolate brownies and other sweet delectables. Your precious pooch will have a water bowl just for them and you can sit inside or outside under some shady spots and tantalise your sweet tooth.

Location: Birdhaven – 64 St Andrew Street

This quaint little hole in the wall is perfect for a lazy brunch or afternoon tea. Their menu boasts a deliciously diverse range of dishes, from salads and sandwiches to omelettes and croissants – not to mention their signature mouth-watering crepes! Their relaxed vibe and cosy courtyard makes for an ideal doggie-date spot.
